Sleeping

At one o’clock it’s getting too hot to do anything, except maybe get burnt by the sun.

And sleep.

Why tire yourself out? No one is going to shorten their day because you do.

When people sleep they are neither good nor bad. You can’t see their dreams, if they’re saving a world or destroying another. Peaceful yet vulnerable. Sleep is your body forcing you to trust, or perhaps risk, that things will be ok when you wake up. Or that you will react quickly enough to danger that’s loud enough.

The Khmer word sumra literally translates as rest; in reality this literally translates into sleep.  It can also have a sense of bad habit about it: those who get used to it are tired unless they get their nap.

You only have to wake them up to tell them.
